Nigeria's men's 3x3 basketball team endured a mixed opening day at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, recording one victory and two defeats to leave their semifinal hopes hanging in the balance, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerians began their campaign in impressive fashion with a 21-17 victory over the Cayman Islands, showcasing their attacking quality to secure an important opening win.

However, they were unable to build on that momentum in their second outing, suffering a 21-15 defeat to Australia despite a spirited performance.

Nigeria's final game of the day also ended in disappointment as they fell 21-10 to New Zealand, leaving them with one win and two losses after three matches.

The results mean Nigeria must now deliver strong performances against Guyana and hosts Scotland on July 26 to keep alive their hopes of advancing to the semifinals of the men's 3x3 basketball competition.
