Confed Cup: Asec Mimosa Lose Key Midfielder To Belgian Club

Ahead of the 2023 Confederation Cup group stage games, Asec Mimosa of Coted'Ivoire the group opponent of Nigeria's representative Rivers United has lost its key midfielder to a Belgian club, BSNSports.com.ng report.

The Ivorian champions 2 weeks ago completed the signing of 3 players from rivals in the league.

But the club on Monday afternoon confirmed the departure of Christian Akpan to KRC Genk of Belgium.

Rivers United and Asec will come face-to-face in the second group game slated for February 2023.

The 18-year-old versatile midfielder played an active role in the qualifying round for Asec and his absence will be felt.
