The government of the Republic of Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo are already working hand-in-hand to submit a joint bid for the 2029 African Cup of Nations, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

In a recent statement, Didier Budimbu, Minister of Sports of the DRC, confirmed the intention of his government, in partnership with that of Congo-Brazzaville, to submit a joint bid to host this prestigious continental competition.

"With my counterpart from Congo-Brazzaville, we are determined to be able to organize the 2029 AFCON together", he said.

He particularly highlighted a geographical specificity that could appeal to CAF, Kinshasa and Brazzaville, located on either side of the Congo River, are the two closest capitals in the world.

This unique configuration would offer simplified logistics for hosting teams and supporters in two different countries but connected by a short river crossing.
