Congo Football Federation Open Talks With Cameroon Legend Over Coaching Role
Sampson Adedeji
The Congo Football Federation has opened discussions with former Indomitable Lions captain Rigobert Song over the vacant head coach position of the national team, known as the Red Devils, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Sources close to the federation indicate that talks are at an exploratory stage, with the Congolese football authorities keen on bringing in an experienced figure to lead the team into a new era.
Song, a respected figure in African football, boasts vast experience both as a player and coach.
The former defender, who enjoyed an illustrious international career with Cameroon, has previously handled coaching responsibilities with the Indomitable Lions and is seen as a strong candidate to stabilize and rebuild the Congolese side.
The Red Devils have been in search of a new technical direction following inconsistent performances in recent competitions, and the federation believes Song’s pedigree and leadership qualities could be instrumental in reviving the team’s fortunes.
