Cooper Reveal Reason Why Nottingham Forest Signed Awoniyi

Few hours after the signing of Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi, manager of Nottingham Forest Steve Cooper has revealed the reason they captured the forward, BSNsports.com.ng reports.

The former European champions on Saturday morning announced the signing of the striker on a 5-year deal from German Bundesliga club Union Berlin.

Cooper said they had been monitoring the progress of Awoniyi and they were also aware that many Premier League sides were interested in his services.

"There has been a lot of interest in Taiwo from other Premier League clubs, and other clubs across Europe, so we’re delighted that he has chosen, Nottingham Forest.

“Our recruitment and coaching team have been monitoring his progress closely over the last few months. He’s a player who we really believe in and we look forward to him going on to fulfil his potential and become a top Premier League striker with Nottingham Forest," he said.

Awoniyi's first premier league match will be at the St James Park against Newcastle United.
