Nigeria international David Okereke was on the goal scorers sheet as US Cremonese are through to the next round of the Coppa Italia Frecciarosa after beating Modena 4-2 on Thursday, reports BSNSports.com.ng.

After a goalless first half, US Cremonese had to wait till the 77th minute to register the first goal for the game, courtesy of a strike from Okereke.

Afena-Gyan Felix doubled the lead for the Serie A side with four minutes plus added time to go.

Modena, then did the unthinkable as they scored two goals within a minute to put the game into extra time.

Davide Diaw was at the double, scoring a penalty in the 89th and making it 2-2 in the 90th minute.

At extra-time, US Cremonese playing in front of their home fans had Leonardo Sernicola to thank after he bagged a brace.

The Italian found Modena's goal in the 111th and 120th minute to seal a win for US Cremonese, as they advanced to the next round to play Napoli.

It was a delight for Massimiliano Alvin, as, during his post-match chat, the Italian said.

"We are in the second round and we will play Napoli, and this is positive. We have a complicated game, but for what we have built I think the passage to the next round is deserved.

"We take the victory because the team has suffered until today with the lack of such a positive result. This is demonstrated by the fact that at 2-0 we made two mistakes that we will never make again. This shows that the boys felt this competition. I wanted to pass the round, in any way and the goal has been achieved, this is positive ”.
