Costa Rica Beat Nigeria In Friendly Match

Costa Rica in the early hours of Thursday defeated home-based Super Eagles 2-0 in an international friendly match at the National Stadium, San Jose, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The American unlike the West African are participating in the 2022 World Cup billed for Qatar and as part of their preparations, took on three-time African champions in the country's capital.

The Tico wasted no time in registering the first goal in the 7th minute as Oscar Duarte right footed shot from the center of the box beat Nigeria goalkeeper Bankole who doubled as the captain.

The hosts scored the second goal in the 73rd minute from Kendall Waston's header with assist by Joel Campbell. The 2003 African champions have lost 1-2 to Algeria and 0-2 to Costa Rica in their last two friendly matches. They however beat humiliated Sao Tome and Principe 10-0 in the African Nations Cup qualifier.

Nigeria will play another international friendly match with World Cup bound Portugal on 17th November, 2022.
