Court Sentences Senegal Legend Diouf Prison

A court in Dakar has handed former Senegal international El Hadji Diouf a one-year suspended prison sentence over a child abandonment case linked to unpaid child support, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The former football star was found guilty after failing to meet his financial obligations towards his child, according to the court ruling delivered in the Senegalese capital.

In addition to the suspended sentence, Diouf was ordered to pay 10 million CFA francs in damages.

Diouf, a former Senegal captain, enjoyed a successful football career with clubs across Europe and was part of the Senegal team that reached the quarter-finals of the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
