Coventry Hold Talks For Onyeka Deal

Ibrahim Lateef

English Championship side Coventry have held talks with Brentford about a deal for Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka, reports BSNSports.com.ng.

Both a loan and a permanent aspect to a transfer are believed to have been discussed.

Coventry are thought to be leading several clubs interested in the Nigeria international and he is increasingly likely to leave before the deadline.

Championship rivals Birmingham and Sheffield United are also keen. Sky Sports News reported earlier in the window that Valencia were the first to make initial contact with Brentford.

Frank Lampard is looking to strengthen Coventry’s bid to win the Championship and gain promotion to the Premier League. They are currently top of the table by three points.

Onyeka impressed at AFCON, playing four of the six games for Nigeria, including the semi-final exit to Morocco.
