Cricket: Nigeria Will Be In The Top 3 By 2026 - Akpata
Sampson Adedeji
Following the recent rise in the ranking of the Yellow Greens, President of the Nigeria Cricket Federation ( NCF) Uyi Akpata has said they aim to be in the top 3 in the continent by 2026, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Yellow Greens moved 4 places up in the latest International Cricket Council T20 rankings from 42nd to 38th in the world and also became the 7th best team in Africa.
The improvement in the ranking is attributed to the success recorded in the just-concluded West African Trophy Tour that was held in Lagos.
“We are tracking our performances; we just moved a step up from number eight in Africa to number seven.Â
I believe that by 2026, we will be able to meet our overall aspiration of being a top three in Africa", he said.
The Nigerian team will aim to improve their ranking when the ICC T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier slated for November 20 to December 1 commence in Namibia.
