Nigeria’s D’Tigers suffered another setback in the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifiers after losing 82–79 to South Sudan in a fiercely contested encounter, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian team produced a determined performance but were unable to complete the comeback, falling by just three points to record their second consecutive defeat in the qualifying campaign.

The result has left D’Tigers’ hopes of securing a place at the next FIBA Basketball World Cup hanging by a thread, with the team now under immense pressure to win their remaining fixtures.

Nigeria must quickly put the defeat behind them as they face Cape Verde in their next qualifier on Sunday.

A victory in that encounter will be crucial if D’Tigers are to keep their qualification hopes alive.

Final Result: Nigeria 79–82 South Sudan

Next Game: Nigeria vs Cape Verde — Sunday
