D’Tigress Stars Miss Out On WNBA Season Spots

Despite their status as African champions, no current D’Tigress player will feature in the 2026 Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

A number of Nigerian players, including Amy Okonkwo, had the opportunity to impress during the preseason after signing training camp contracts with different franchises.

However, they were unable to secure final roster spots ahead of the new campaign.

Okonkwo, who recently featured for the Dallas Wings during the preseason, was among the players released before the start of the regular season.

Other Nigerian-born players remain part of WNBA teams, but they have not represented Nigeria at the international level with D’Tigress.

The development comes as a disappointment for Nigerian basketball fans, especially after D’Tigress’ recent dominance on the African continent and their growing reputation in women’s basketball.
