D’Tigress Will Improve On Its Shooting Against Foes -Okonkwo
Ibrahim Lateef
Amy Okwonko, says D’Tigress will improve on their shooting going forward, and that everything coach Rena Wakama says motivates them at the ongoing 2023 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket, reports
The reigning champions improved to 2-0 in Kigali by seeing off Egypt 83-65, in a game they controlled after a slow start.
With this win, Nigeria top the Group D and qualify directly for the Quarter-Finals. But they still have to wait to know who will be their opponents, who could be either Mozambique Or Côte d’Ivoire.
“Everything the coach says motivates us. We came for the win, and we knew we’d had a target painted on our backs. We have a standard that we play to and we’ve been trying to establish a new standard with the new coach.
"We stepped on the court for each other and we’re ready to play for each other and for the country. I think we can improve on our turnovers. We have had way too many.
"We also need to improve on our shooting but I think we should continue to instil confidence in our shooters so they can improve too.â€
