DG National Sports Commission To Attend 3rd Ogun Women Run

The Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Honourable Bukola Olopade, has confirmed his attendance at the third edition of the Ogun Women Run, according to reports from BSNSports.com.ng.

This event, organized by Brussels Sports Management Limited, is scheduled for Saturday, December 7, 2024, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Honourable Olopade emphasized the significance of the race, describing it as an essential platform for showcasing Nigeria's abundant sporting talents and supporting women making strides in the sports arena.

“It is important to attend the 3rd edition of the Ogun Women Run given the wealth of talent in our nation and the pressing need to support women in sports, as data has shown that the pathway has always been more challenging for females,” Olopade stated. He added,

 “Reflecting on recent international competitions, our women have represented the country proudly, winning several medals and accolades. We must continue to support them as the challenges they face are significant, especially in our current landscape.”

The Ogun Women Run is a 5-kilometer road race aimed at empowering and celebrating women in sports.

It is open to female runners aged 25 to 60, beginning at Sapon and concluding at the iconic MKO Abiola Stadium in Kuto, Abeokuta.

Honourable Olopade urged the organizers to ensure this year's edition inspires girls to break barriers, promote healthy living, and contribute to the development of grassroots sports in Nigeria.
