Daniel Chapo: Super Eagles Round of 16 Opponents New President Is The World’s Tallest Head of State

Daniel Chapo, the newly inaugurated President of Mozambique, has attracted global attention not only for his leadership but also for his extraordinary height, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

At over 2.7 metres (approximately 8 feet 10 inches), Chapo is believed to be the tallest serving head of state in the world. Born on 6 January 1977, he is also among the youngest national leaders on the international stage.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to face Mozambique’s national team, the Mambas, in the Round of 16 at the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations. The match is scheduled for Monday, 5 January 2026 at 8:00 pm, just one day before President Chapo’s 49th birthday.

In a show of support for his national team, Chapo has reportedly offered a bonus of $7,500 to each player and official should they secure a victory against Nigeria.

A photograph circulating in media shows President Chapo alongside Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization and a prominent Nigerian economist, highlighting diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
