Remo Stars Football Club will lock horns against First Capital Plus Premier League champions Medeama Sports Club at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Sunday by 4 pm, and head coach Daniel Ogunmodede has warned that the game will be a crucial moment for the club, bsnsports.com.ng reports.
In a pre-match press conference ahead of the CAF Champions League First Preliminary Round tie, Coach Daniel expressed the excitement of being in a position to set a historic moment with Remo.
When asked what the game meant to the club, he said: "It is a crucial moment for the club and the players, including myself as the coach being our first time in the CAF Champions League, and we are excited about this.
"Most importantly, we are playing against a privately owned club, and we can't wait to pass through this moment."
Since Remo's final League game against Bendel Insurance on the 11th of June 2023 in the NPL Super Six playoffs, Remo Stars have been involved in two pre-season tournaments from the Naija Super 8 to the ValueJet Cup.
Playing at least 5 games in each championship, Coach Daniel emphasized the importance of the preseason and assured the media that his players have rested and recuperated in due time for the start of a new season.
"The preseason has come and gone and the team benefited immensely from that period.
"As for fatigue, we have had enough time to rest and engage in recovery sessions for this game.
"We hope to continue from where we stopped on the continent the last time, bearing in mind the major aim to surpass our achievement in our second attempt and reach the Group Stages.
Remo Stars lost out to Morocco's Association Sportive des Forces Armées Royales (ASFAR) in last season's preliminary round and would hope to go one better at this time of asking.
