After the game, the podium was littered with Delta Queens Players, from the top scorer's gong, to the most valuable player, and the best shot stopper, was a hit back to back.

23-year-old Mercy Omokwo bagged the NWFL 2023 Golden boot award, after scoring 9 goals in 15 appearances, as she expressed her gratitude for the feat while speaking to the NWFL media team.

“We worked so hard for the team as attackers to make things happen so we give God all the glory and hoped for a better season.

“It wasn’t easy scoring nine goals this season because we had so many attackers who also fought for the highest goal scorer but I believed in God and prayers.

"I wasn’t going to fight for it at the beginning but when it comes, it is going to come" Omokwo told the League's website.

Teammate Chinaza Agoh was also adorned the award for the Most Valuable Player of the season, for her tremendous impact in the Delta Queens' team.

“I worked hard because I know what is inside of me. I always pray to God as I don’t have any other God and pray hard to get better because I believe in myself,” Agoh stated.

For the ladies in gloves, Mgbechi Anderline won the Best Goalkeeper award after conceding 7 goals in 15 games, joint best alongside Bayelsa Queens goalkeeper - Monle Omini, but beat her to the title.

Speaking to the NWFL website, Mgbechi gave insight into her mindset through the season.

“For this tournament, I made up my mind that in any match that I was going to play, I pray for it to be successful without conceding any goal.

"I played before being converted into a goalkeeper. Thanks to our Team Manager who asked me to switch to goalkeeping."
