By Gbenga Gboyega

Four players represented the 2023 Nigeria Women's Football League champions Delta Queens in the Team of the Year selected by the League's committee BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The team highlighted the best players from each position based on their performances during the 2022-23 League season, using a 4-4-2 flat formation.

Delta Queens striking duo Chinaza Agoh and Mercy Omokwo, who both won the Most Valuable Player and Golden Boot awards, were handed the forward line roles.

The defensive pairing of Ogbonna Akudo and Mamuzo Adofe posed as center backs, as they kept the line tight for Rivers Angels during the regular season and at the Super Six playoffs, conceding just eight goals all season.

Edet Glory and Flourish Sabastine both occupied the right and left flanks of the midfield, with Robo Queens Esther Onyenezide and Taiwo Afolabi of Delta Queens completing the midfield setup.

The league's best goalkeeper Mbechi Anderline held the forte between the goalposts after conceding seven goals in 15 games in the regular season while only getting beaten once during the playoffs.
