Dessers: My Serie A Goal For Cremonese Will Come

Alfred Kadiri

Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers says he will end his goal drought as he works hard in search of his first for Cremonese despite going making seven Serie A starts, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian who linked up with Cremonese in August 2022 from Genk, made 38 league appearances in total, scoring 10 goals and providing four assists.

Giving his thought about the newly-promoted Italian Serie A home thrashing to Lazio, Dessers says the team must always rise up to the occasion in their next matches.

A trip to Lecce on October 2 is the club's next Serie A fixture for Cremonese, who have two points and are in 19th spot.

Speaking at the end of Cremonese 0-4 defeat to Lazio at the Zini Stadium.

"It was a difficult match, not only for the strikers but also for the whole team," said Dessers.

“We didn't play like we did in the other games, considering that Lazio are a high quality team that can count on players like Immobile and Milinkovic Savic."

On why he is yet to score, having got three for Genk before arriving the Serie A.

"It is not easy as a striker not to score, but I continue to look forward to it. I know that if I do my job for the team, the results and goals will come.

"We tried to play man against man, sometimes we made it difficult when we took risks, but we didn't try hard enough. But we will be able to analyze this and we will certainly be able to do better.

"The feeling with Okereke is growing and we hope to show it in the next match against Lecce which is very important for us. There we will have to show that last Sunday's game was an exception.”
