Di Marzio: Why Boniface’s Transfer To Milan Collapsed
Ibrahim Lateef
Italian football and transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio has shed light on why Victor Boniface's transfer to AC Milan fell through, reports BSNSports.com.ng.
Di Marzio spoke to 'Milan Vibes' about the Boniface deal (the player eventually moved to Werder Bremen):
“With Boniface, Milan was fully aware of the physical issues the player had previously faced. This isn't a club that was unaware of his medical history and career path. They simply wanted to ensure his physical condition was optimal, especially considering it was a loan deal. When investing €40 million in a player, past injuries carry significant weight. In this situation, even though it was a loan, after reviewing his medical records—both past and present—the club opted to pursue a player who was better prepared and could provide stronger guarantees."
"It wasn’t ideal to have the player arrive and then send him back, but this approach was more transparent and straightforward than others who conduct medicals abroad and remain silent when a deal falls through. In this case, everyone was aware that the player had arrived, and the club made a decision. It's unfortunate for the player because I know he was eager to wear the Milan jersey.
"However, these situations do occur, similar to what happened with Harder, who had practically signed a contract, and documents were already exchanged. A club has every right to retract an offer until all parties have signed if a better opportunity arises."
