Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, has assured the Super Falcons that they will receive their cash rewards for winning the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), despite the delay in the payment process, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Speaking to journalist Ayo Ibidapo in London, Dikko explained that the payment has been delayed due to government budgetary procedures but stressed that President Bola Tinubu had already approved the reward in August 2025.

"It’s a government process. Those things are off-budget. It has to be included in the budget and so forth. But the president approved their payment since August 2025," Dikko said.

He added that the payment is currently being processed by the relevant government agencies. "It is with the finance people and the Accountant-General’s Office. They are processing it, and they are working very hard on it. The Minister of Finance is working on it to make sure that money would drop, hopefully before the WAFCON," he stated.

Dikko, however, assured the players that regardless of when the funds are released, they will receive their full entitlement.

"But it doesn’t matter whether the money drops before then or later; they’ll get it. It will be paid directly into their accounts; it won’t be paid to anyone else," he concluded.
