Dimeji Lawal Frowns At Shooting Stars' Poor Run, Demands Players' Commitment
Ibrahim Lateef
Frustrated by the team's recent poor performance, Dimeji Lawal, the General Manager of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), has delivered a stern message to the players, urging them to step up their game and approach their responsibilities with the seriousness and commitment required, reports BSNSports.com.ng.
Following the team's disappointing 0-2 loss to Akwa United in Uyo on Sunday, Lawal addressed the players directly.
He expressed his dissatisfaction with the attitude of some players and demanded a higher level of commitment moving forward.
"We need to be honest with ourselves; this is not the kind of team—Akwa United—that should be defeating us. We simply allowed them to outplay us," he stated.
"In recent games, some of you have not been putting in the effort needed to honour the hard work of the Technical Adviser, the coaching staff, and the management."
"We have raised the hopes of our supporters, and just as they begin to believe in us, we are letting them down."
He emphasized that the players' attitudes were a significant factor in the team's struggles and urged them to improve: "I advise you to step up and approach this with the utmost seriousness."
Lawal expressed the management's disappointment with the lack of commitment shown by some players.
"I am always present to monitor your training sessions, and I witness the efforts our coaches put in. It's disheartening to see that you do not apply what you learn on the field."
Continuing, the visibly upset General Manager made it clear that the club's management would take action to resolve the situation if necessary.
"The management is making every effort to support you, and we will not stand by and watch our dreams slip away due to the lack of commitment from some of you," he explained.
"If the team does not return to winning form immediately, we will be forced to make tough decisions. I urge all of you to make this happen starting with the next game," he declared.
