Dont Judge Paseiro With Outcome Of Mexico, Ecuador Friendlies - Babangida
By Niyi Busari
Former Super Eagles and Ajax winger, Tijani Babangida, said that Nigerians should not judge the newly-appointed Super Eagles coach with the results from his first two friendly matches, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will on May 28 face Mexico national team in an international friendly match before another game against Ecuador four days later in the United States of America.
Babangida, the Players Union (PFAN) President said it will be too early to use the results from the matches to judge him because he meets the players just three days before the match.
"It will be too early to judge him with the results from the matches." Tijani Babangida told BSN Sports
"It is a friendly match and the players were not selected by him and most of the key players are not going to play. So, we cant judge the coach based on the result against Mexico but as time goes on we will watch and see his style of play, selection and substitution because we need a new team.
"He needs more time to be able to assemble his team so that he can tell the players what he wants. However, If he wins, Nigerians should commend his efforts because it is not easy winning a game after meeting the players just three days to the match.
"When he is in charge for about six matches, Nigerians can begin to judge him. By then, we will be able to see from the way the boys are playing, we know our team, the system they play, and now we are waiting to see the system he is going to bring then, we can be able to see If he is the right man or not. I believe that in no time, we will see where he is going.
"I like his dream to win the next African Nations Cup for Nigeria. That showed that he wants to hit the ground running. I know he comes with his own team to make things work for him." He concluded.
