Nigeria’s Under-18 and Under-20 men’s handball teams have advanced to the finals of the IHF Trophy Africa Zone 3 tournament in Lomé, following impressive semi-final victories over Ghana, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Under-18 side, coached by Abdulhakim Yakubu, delivered a dominant performance, defeating their West African rivals 42–22. The team controlled proceedings from the outset, combining a potent attacking display with disciplined defending to overwhelm Ghana.

The emphatic result underscores the team’s consistency throughout the tournament as they continue their pursuit of a successful title defence in the regional competition.

In the Under-20 category, Nigeria faced a sterner test, edging Ghana 21–19 in a closely fought encounter. The team, led by David Emmanuel, held their composure in a high-intensity contest that saw both sides exchange momentum throughout the match.

Goalkeeper Attahiru Sahabi played a decisive role in the victory, earning Man of the Match honours after a series of crucial saves in the closing stages.

With both teams now through to their respective finals, Nigeria is on the verge of a potential double triumph in the competition organised by the International Handball Federation.

Attention now shifts to the finals, where the Nigerian teams will aim to crown their impressive campaign with gold medals and secure qualification for the continental phase of the IHF Trophy later this year.
