Heartland FC of Owerri clinched the 2022-23 Nigeria National League title following a 2-0 win over Kano Pillars on Friday evening, with the victory crowning their impressive unbeaten run through the season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Naze Millionaires broke the deadlock in the 56th minute through a dazzling run and a composed finish by Francis Erikan, before Fabian Omaka doubled the lead twenty minutes on after being set up beautifully by Chidiebere Ajoku in the 76th minute.

The double substitution made by Heartland's head coach Hassan Abdallah in the 64th minute to bring in Chidiebere Ajoku for Kingsley Arum, and Abugu for Mumuni proved effective as the game felt one-sided for the most part.

To cap up an eventful season, Heartland also finished their campaign unbeaten winning six of their ten games during the regular round, while drawing the remaining four, plus scrapping two wins from three games during the Promotional Playoffs drawing only to FC One Rocketœ

The result sets a tone for a very interesting fiesta in the Nigeria Premier League for next season as former champions in Heartland and Kano Pillars, alongside Katsina United and Sporting Lagos storm the League after gaining due promotion.
