Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation Collaborates With NPFL For Pre-season Tournament

The Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation partners with the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) to organize the Super Cup Pre-season competition scheduled to hold by midyear.

The foundation convened by Nigerian-born UK businessman and entrepreneur Dozy Mmobuosi, collaborated to form the NPFL-Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation Pre-season Tournament, under the aegis of the Nigeria Premier Football League Limited Bsnsports.com.ng reports.

Dozy Mmobuosi is an ardent lover of football both on home soil and abroad, with his recent investment into has his recent investment into the Super Cup tournament. 

The foundation whose scope borders healthcare, education, entrepreneurship, technical skills, and partnership development, reportedly invested ₦1.2 Billion into this year's pre-season tie, with the winner expected to smile home with nothing less than ₦1 billion in prize money.

According to LeadershipNG, the organizers in a statement made available to journalists said the number of participating teams has been expanded to 12, adding that all teams were selected from the NPFL.

Adding the first runner-up team will smile home with ₦200m while the sum of ₦20m will go to each of the 12 teams for their participation. 

“Following the huge success recorded in the maiden edition last December, it became necessary to increase the funding and allow teams to invest more resources in players, facilities, and infrastructure to attract top talents to the league, and raise the overall standard of football in Nigeria,” Mmobuosi stated. 

In response to the development, the chairman of the IMC Gbenga Elegbeleye commended the Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation for the partnership, describing the development as a huge move to the transformation of the league. 

“The Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation Pre-season Tournament is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the talent in the league, promote Nigerian football to a broader audience, and inspire teams and players to contribute to the growth of the sport in the country,” Elegbeleye reacted. 

NPFL Head of Operations, Davidson Owumi, also described the development as aligning with the IMC's vision to reposition the league to become financially rewarding to clubs and by extension, the players and coaching staff.
