Drama As NLO Sanctions Cynosure FC For Raising Concerns After Liberty Lions Fielded 7 Players In Calabar Centre

More intriguing drama has surfaced after Cynosure FC of Ebonyi State was sanctioned by the Nationwide League One, NLO, over an alleged match fixing scandal, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Cynosure FC had raised concerns about the suspended match manipulation after the last group matches at the Calabar zone.

It was gathered that two Calabar-based teams, E-World United and Liberty Lions FC, were alleged to have manipulated the last fixture to favour E-World United, who eventually won the tie 3-1 to pick the sole playoff ticket, while Liberty Lions allegedly fielded only 7 players.

In their ruling, the management of the NLO dismissed the complaints and sanctioned Cynosure FC for bringing the game into disrepute.

The statement reads: "Following the investigation into the alleged match-fixing incident involving Liberty Lions FC and E-World FC, the NLO disciplinary committee has thoroughly reviewed the evidence presented.

 "Unfortunately, Cynosure FC was unable to provide sufficient and convincing evidence to refute the claims surrounding the integrity of the match.

"As a result, the committee has decided to impose disciplinary measures following the governing regulations. These measures are intended to uphold the integrity of the game and serve as a reminder of the importance of fair play and transparency in football.

"The specific sanctions imposed on Cynosure FC are as follows: The result of the match between Liberty Lions FC vs E-World United FC stands. It is clear that Cynosure FC deliberately committed an act to bring the game of football in Nigeria has disrepute by falsely accusing Liberty Lions FC without concrete evidence and has not been able to prove their allegation of match fixing beyond a reasonable doubt.

 "The Chairman, Cynosure FC, is hereby suspended indefinitely for a period of 6 months from all NLO-related events for raising false allegations without substantial evidence.

"The Club Cynosure FC is hereby fined N500,000 for raising a false alarm that could destroy the image of the country, the Nigeria Football Federation and the Nationwide League One.

"We strongly encourage Cynosure FC to enhance its internal oversight mechanisms to prevent similar incidents in the future and reinforce trust within the football community."
