EFCC FC Outscore Mailantarki Academy To Win 2022 FCT Aiteo Cup

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission Football Club (EFCC FC) on Wednesday defeated Mailantarki Care Sports Academy 2-1 in the final match of the 2022 FCT Aiteo Cup.


The match played at the Area 3 football pitch in Abuja saw EFCC FC struggled hard to lift up the trophy as the champions of the 2022 FCT FA Cup.

EFCC FC had a goal ruled out before Mailantarki were reduced to 10 men.


The Mailantarki Care Sports Academy started strong at the onset, boasting of more ball possession as they looked for the long balls, attempting to pin the opposition but failed to make it count.


 Both team missed goal-scoring chances in the first half as they pressed on.


On resumption of the second half , the EFCC FC defence did well assuring that their attacks were firmed and continued struggling to keep a hold of it themselves.


It was however the Mailantarki Academy who opened scoring against the run of play through Jabeer Hassan in the 62nd minute from a close range following a brilliant cross from the left.


 EFCC FC , Job Opanachi however got the equaliser for barely five minutes later after a brilliant finish to level 1-1. 


The EFCC FC however got the goal badly needed when Refree awarded them penalty and was scored by Emmanuel Icha in 86th minute  to earn a 2-1 victory.


33 teams registered in the male competition while only two female teams also played in the 2022 Women FCT Aiteo Cup.


The two male, EFCC FC and Mailantarki Care Sport FC will represent FCT at the national FA Cup for male team. While the two female teams , Naija Ratels FC and Joty Sports Queens will represent FCT at the national FA Cup
