EPL: Five Super Eagles Players In Action As Forest, Fulham Settle For Draw

Five Nigerian internationals were in action on Sunday as Nottingham Forest played out a goalless draw against Fulham in an English Premier League encounter, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The match saw Ola Aina, Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Taiwo Awoniyi and Samuel Chukwueze all involved as both sides settled for a point in a tightly contested fixture.

Aina, who has become a regular for Forest since returning from injury, made his 13th appearance of the campaign. While Iwobi and Bassey both completed the full 90 minutes for Fulham, Awoniyi and Chukwueze were introduced in the second half as substitutes, replacing Igor Jesus in the 63rd minute and Oscar Bobb a minute earlier.

Forest started brightly and created the first notable opportunity inside the opening 10 minutes, but Elliot Anderson failed to direct his effort on target.

Fulham came close before the break when Bassey met a free-kick delivery with a header, but his effort was comfortably saved by Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels.

Aina also came close to breaking the deadlock for the hosts, unleashing a powerful strike from about 20 yards that crashed against the crossbar before bouncing away to safety.

Fulham threatened moments later as Rodrigo Munoz tested the Forest defence, but his attempt was blocked by Aina. The resulting corner produced another chance, with Sasa Lukic’s effort rolling narrowly wide of the post.

Forest’s best opportunity arrived late in the match when Anderson slipped a pass through to Awoniyi in the 88th minute, but the Nigerian striker dragged his shot wide of goal, ensuring the contest ended in a stalemate.

The result leaves both teams continuing their push for valuable points in the closing stages of the Premier League season.
