The Eagles of Mali have parted ways with head coach Tom Saintfiet following issues surrounding delayed payment of his salary, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Belgian tactician reportedly ended his stint with the Malian national team after concerns over outstanding remuneration could not be resolved.

Saintfiet guided Mali to the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco, a performance that earned him plaudits for his tactical discipline and structured approach.

Despite the impressive continental outing, administrative challenges appear to have brought his tenure to an abrupt end.

The experienced coach, who has handled several national teams across Africa, is understood to be among the applicants for the vacant Rwanda national team coaching position as he continues his managerial career.
