Easter: SWAN Celebrates With Christians, Harps On Compassion, Commitment

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has felicitated with Christians as they remember the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, globally.

SWAN President, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, in a statement through the Association's Secretary-General on Sunday noted that the significance of Jesus Christ resurrection is an expression of a practical sacrifice, love and heart-felt compassion.

He said, "May this sacred season bring us redemption, good news, upliftment, and new beginnings, in Jesus’ mighty name. Let this Easter inspire renewed faith in Nigeria, strengthen our unity, and reinforce our shared commitment to building a better Nation. 

“May this Easter season renew our hope, strengthen our bond as one people, and inspire us to work together for the progress and unity of our great nation.

"As we reflect on these divine truths, I urge us all to embody the virtues of sacrifice, love, unity, and service to one another. Let this season renew our collective resolve to build a stronger, more prosperous Sports sector, filled with blessings in our homes since the essence of Jesus coming is to give abundant life."

The President of SWAN also used the opportunity to remind all, particularly Athletes, Administrators, the Sporting Media, even political and religious leaders of the need to renew their commitment in taking Sports to enviable heights.

"The Spirit of Easter should also propel all within the sporting arena to redouble our efforts in the part we play individually because when Sports is given its pride of place, the issues regarding employment, social welfare, insecurity among others will be a thing of the past.

"Whenever we empower individuals and communities through sports, we take bold steps in eradicating poverty and changing the narratives both in short and long terms,

"So when Sports thrive, everyone partakes in the benefit, therein" he said.
