Edeh Kicks off UEFA Sponsored Youth Development Program In Benue

Over 5,000 young players will benefit from the UEFA Youth Development Program that was declared opened by the Benue State Football Association Chairman, Barrister Paul Edeh.

On Saturday, at the Government Modern College, Otukpo, the State FA Chairman declared opened a UEFA sponsored Youth Program with over 100 young players in attendance.

Aimed at sensitizing the youth to develop the interest in football business, Cross-Culture, an Non Governmental Organization (NGO) domiciled in Denmark in conjunction with the Benue FA give children ranging from 5-12 year-old boys and girls the opportunity to witness how the sport can change their fortunes.

The youth program which commenced last weekend in Makurdi in Zone B part of the State progressed to Otukpo Local Government while other 21 Local Government Areas will enjoy from the opportunities.

"This project, first of its kind was held in Makurdi last week, and now Otukpo and next place will be Gboko till the entire Local Government in the feel the impact.

The idea behind this is to give over 5,000 young children in the state the opportunity to showcase their God-given talents to bring fortunes to their lives. Barrister Paul Edeh remarked.

Also, speaking, the Chairman Otukpo Local Government, Hon. Wilson Eche promised to make provision for a stadium in the local government that the residents could be proud of. "It's a thing of shame that in Otukpo Local Government,.there is no stadium capable of hosting any football game. This was not what we witnessed when we were young, then, we had a stadium which has been sold out but I can promise that it would be retrieved.
