The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Desmond Amadin Enabulele, has confirmed Coach Greg Ikhenoba as the new Head Coach of Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin, reports BSNSports.com.ng.

Alongside this announcement, he appointed Mr. Austin Iyamu as the Technical Director and Mr. Peter Obanor as the Team Manager of Bendel Insurance FC.

In addition, the Edo State Sports Commission announced the appointment of Coach Rollanson Aituairi Odeh as the General Manager of Edo Queens FC.

These appointments are part of the Commission's strategic plan to improve the management of both state-owned clubs.

Other appointments include Mr Idemudia Osigbemen as the Scouting Coach for Bendel Insurance FC and Mr Anthony Ipogah as the Scouting Coach for Edo Queens players. 

Princess Omoyemwen Adeyinka Afolabi has been designated as the Welfare Officer for Edo Queens.

The Sports Commission Chairman confirmed Coach Greg Ikhenoba's position as Head Coach of Bendel Insurance FC due to his impressive performance in leading the team away from relegation following the resignation of former coach and technical director Monday Odigie.

Austin Iyamu's appointment fills the vacancy left by Coach Odigie. Due to Edo Queens' outstanding performance in the 2023/24 NWFL Premiership and the CAF Women's Champions League, the Sports Commission has also renewed Moses Aduku's contract as Head Coach of Edo Queens, ensuring that he will remain with the team for two more years.

Hon. Enabulele urged the newly appointed General Manager of Edo Queens, Rollanson Aituairi Odeh, along with the new Technical Director and Team Manager, Austin Iyamu and Peter Obanor, to leverage their expertise and experience in carrying out their duties, as high expectations are placed upon them.

He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the new appointees and the existing team members in facilitating positive change for the overall development of the clubs.

Hon. Enabulele also noted that these appointments are based on the individuals' professional track records in football.

The Edo State Sports Commission has announced plans to officially introduce the newly appointed coaches, team managers, and players of Bendel Insurance FC on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

The unveiling ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM at the New Festival Hall, Government House, Benin City.
