Edo Sports Commission To Unveil Insurance, Edo Queens FC Players, GM, Coaches

.As Edo Queens Host Abia Angels In NWFL Curtain Raiser

The Executive Chairman of Edo State Sports Commission, Hon.Amadin Desmond Enabulele and other top government functionaries will, on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025, unveil the newly appointed General Manager of Edo Queens Football Club, Rollanson Aituari Odeh.

Others to be unveiled include the newly appointed Austin Iyamu and Peter Obanor as Technical Director and Team Manager, respectively, for Bendel Insurance Football Club, with Greg Ikhenoba as the confirmed substantive Head Coach.

The unveiling ceremony is slated for the new Festival Hall, Government House, Benin City, beginning from 10 00am. 

The Executive Governor of Edo State, distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo, is the Special Guest of Honour with his debuty, Rt Honourable Dennis Idahosa, as guest of honour.

These newly appointed officers are expected to bring their expertise to bear in ensuring accelerated progress and development of the clubs.

As defending champions of the Nigeria Women Football League NWFL, the Edo State government has recruited 13 new players to beef up the team for the new season.

Insurance, on their part, is also busy in the NPFL transfer market in their quest to fortify their team for the second-round challenge.

The players will also be unveiled at the ceremony with the coaches.

According to the newly appointed Executive Chairman of Edo State Sports Commission, the Executive Governor of Edo State Senator Monday Okpebholo has given him the mandate to ensure a turnaround in the sports sector.

He insisted that the two teams needed effective and efficient management and technical crew, hence the appointment of the ex-players and football legends who have distinguished themselves in the game of football to add value to the clubs.

Meanwhile, all is now set for the commencement of the Nigeria Women Football League for the 2025 season as Edo Queens prepare to host Abia Angels Football Club of Abia State on Wednesday, January 15th, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City. Kick-off time is 6pm.

The NWFL league opener will attract Football personalities in NFF and NWFL to Benin City.
