Egypt Declares Interest In Hosting 2032 Or 2036 AFCON

Egypt have formally submitted an expression of interest to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to host either the 2032 or 2036 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Pharaohs are making their intentions clear as they position themselves to bring Africa’s biggest football spectacle back to North Africa in the next decade.

Although CAF is yet to open the official bidding process for those editions, Egypt’s early declaration signals strong ambition from the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), backed by the country’s growing sports infrastructure and experience in hosting major continental and global tournaments.

Egypt last hosted AFCON in 2019, delivering a widely praised tournament, and remain Africa’s most successful nation in the competition’s history. 

Their renewed interest aligns with CAF’s long-term vision of early planning and strategic host selection for future competitions.

With this move, Egypt joins the list of countries already positioning themselves for future AFCON hosting rights, setting the stage for competitive bids as CAF looks ahead to the 2030s.
