Belgium came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against Egypt in their opening Group G fixture of the FIFA World Cup, with both sides settling for a share of the spoils after an entertaining contest at Seattle Stadium, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Played in warm conditions with temperatures nearing 30 degrees Celsius, the match began at an energetic pace as both teams showed attacking intent from the outset. Belgium continued to press forward in search of an equaliser, but Egypt remained a threat on the break. Marmoush looked poised to race through on goal before Nathan Ngoy produced a crucial intervention to halt the danger.

Youri Tielemans also came close with a volley that drifted narrowly wide, while the introduction of Romelu Lukaku in the 66th minute provided Belgium with greater attacking presence.

The breakthrough eventually arrived when Mohamed Hany inadvertently turned the ball into his own net while attempting to deal with Lukaku’s pressure inside the box, handing Belgium a route back into the contest.
