Chairman House Committee on Sports, Honourable Ekene Abubakar Adams has concluded plans to join forces with the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani to restore Kaduna State dominance in sports.

The lawmaker emphasized the plans to move Kaduna sports that has been in the back seat to the next level adding that concerted efforts have been made in the interest of sports development.

He stated that sports is the biggest unifier of our nation and Kaduna in particular, thus, it is important to put its interest ahead of personal interests, sentiments and pecuniary gains.

He said, "I want to start sports development from my state. Sports in Kaduna has suffered setbacks in the last few years and this is the right time to put everything in place for its development.

"It is unfortunate that Kaduna, the heart of the North and the center of all northern states has lost its voice in sports. At this time, I have to go back and support the state governor in reviving this sector.

"Senator Uba Sani, has made it clear that he will give all the necessary supports to reposition sports in the State.

"To this end, I have met with the Commissioner for Sports and Special Adviser on Sports in Kaduna on how to rejuvenate sports in the Center of Learning.

"I appreciate the governor for giving us the opportunity to have wide consultation aimed at reviving the sector. Sports has been a unifying factor capable of bringing every Kaduna State residents together irrespective of their political and religion affiliations. It is also an instrument to reduce crimes and unemployment in the State.

"The sons and daughters of the poor can no longer gain access to train at the Murtala Square because they can't afford the charges, the fear for the insurgent is another factor discouraging sports-loving innocent fans from trooping to stadium. The stadia are in bad state and need renovation before it can be put into proper use by athletes and youth for training.

These are some of what the state government needs to work on to reposition sports in the state." Ekene concluded.
