Hassan Abubakar says his El-Kanemi Warriors deserved to take all 3 points against Nasarawa United, as they were not under pressure to win, reports BSNSports.com.ng.

Two goals from Alfa Igbudu and Zayyad Musa in both halves and a consolatory goal from Onuche Ogbelu for Nasarawa United, saw the Maiduguri-based team winning 2-1.

"I feel relieved with El-Kanemi Warrior earned its first 3 points in the Nigerian Premier Football League after spending a few years in the Nigerian National League," the former Golden Eaglets coach said afterwards.

"The home fans wanted to see us win after we lost to Remo Stars on Matchday One, meaning we improved on our play to ensure that we won.

"After our first game, I did encourage my lads to put the loss against Remo Stars behind them and get focused on the game against Nasarawa United.

"That they did, as I like the attitude my players showed today, they showed they were spurred on and no surprise seeing the team score in both halves of the game.

"Win against Nasarawa United was the right tonic the squad needed going forward, so we hope to build on the feat going into subsequent matches.

"Our opponents (Nasarawa United) were fair, they gave their best but they need to do a lot more to meet up.

As regards El-Kanemi Warrior's target: "The abridged league is very tough, it's like a tournament but we are hopeful of finishing among the top three best teams in the group and qualifying for the Super 6 play-off at the end of the season."
