Elections: 19 FA Chairmen Gives NFF Two-week Ultimatum To Convene AGA
By Niyi Busari
Not fewer than nineteen State Football Association chairmen have unanimously agreed to invoke Article 29.2 of the statute on the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) if the Annual General Assembly (AGA) is not held on or before two weeks after receipt of their letter, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
The FA chairmen in making reference to an earlier letter sent to the NFF in May this year, have demanded that the Nff president must call and fix a date for the Annual General Assembly within the next two weeks
The Congress men in the letter dated 28 June, 2022 sent to the federation President, Amaju Pinnick through General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi threatened to use the power given to them in the NFF statute if congress is not held on or before Wednesday, 12 July, 2022.
The FA Chairmen had on 15th May 2022 sent a letter to the NFF to call for the Congress to start planning for the elections for new dispensation but the federation said it will not be possible following the Bayelsa High Court exparte order stopping them from holding such.Â
The Congress men went further and succeeded in persuading the applicant to withdraw the case to clear the blockage holding them back from convening the AGA. However, there has been no sign or plans by the NFF to call for the congress to set the ball rolling for the Elective Congress in September, 2022.
Article 29.2 gives the Congress men with such number the power to convene Annual General Assembly in absence of the Federation President .
