Shola Fanawopo was on Tuesday 13th June, 2023 declared winner of Osun State Football Association Chairmanship election after beating his closest rival and former chairman with 20 to 17 votes, BSNSports.com.ng reports..

Chief Mustapha Rasaq Ajiroba the incumbent polled 17 to surrendered to the clamour for change by the majority who wanted Fanawopo to take over the mantle.

After disruption during counting of votes, he was eventually declared winner and handed certificate of return to govern Osun State Football in the next four years.

Ajiroba who was the incumbent lost following his below par performance in the last four years.

In a similar development in Kwara, Alhaji Idris Abdullahi Musa (Thuraya) was re-elected Chairman of Kwara State Football Association.

Thuraya polled a total of 19 votes while Engineer Olaide Ahmed got 4 votes at the 2023 Elective Congress held at Kaiama.
