With just 21 days remaining, anticipation is building ahead of the 2026 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, as elite athletes from Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Uganda prepare to compete in Africa’s premier road race, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Scheduled for Saturday, February 14, 2026, the marathon will mark another major milestone in its history, promising a blend of high-level competition, national pride, and global attention. The upcoming race follows the success of the landmark 10th edition and introduces a significant innovation — a newly designed course, unveiled for the first time in the event’s history.

The 42-kilometre route will start at ORCA Mall on Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, pass through sections of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road, and conclude at the iconic Eko Atlantic City, providing a scenic and modern finish befitting a World Athletics Gold Label event.

As one of Africa’s most prestigious road races, the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon continues to attract world-class competitors. East African distance-running powerhouses are expected to feature prominently once again, while Nigerian elite runners will be aiming to capitalize on home advantage in their quest for podium finishes.

Beyond the elite field, the marathon will also welcome thousands of recreational runners, reinforcing its status as a city-wide celebration of endurance, fitness, and community spirit.

Registration for the race remains open but will close on January 31, offering a final opportunity for participants to secure a place on the starting line.
