Emerging Nation Tourney: Team Nigeria Suffers Defeat Against Bulgaria

The Nigeria U24 Male Handball team started their campaign in the IHF Emerging Nation Championship on a losing note with a defeat to the host Bulgaria, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The game at the Palace and Culture in Varna, saw the Nigerian side under coach Solomon Yola put up a great fight but could not handle the pressure of the home team who had fans backing them.

Bulgaria dominated the game and they were able to win the first half 13-11 and returned to the bench with a lead.

The second half didn't go as plan for Nigeria despite an improved performance, as Bulgaria finished strong to win the match 23-19.

Nigeria will play Azerbaijan on Thursday at 5pm.

Azerbaijan also lost their first match to Bulgaria 30-19.
