Nigeria’s shot put star Chukwuebuka Enekwechi made an impressive start to his 2026 season with a commanding victory at the Orlen Cup Łódź in Poland, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The African record holder claimed first place in the men’s shot put event at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver label meet, delivering a season’s best throw of 20.82 metres to secure the win.

Enekwechi’s performance placed him ahead of Romania’s Andrei Toader, who finished second with a throw of 20.55 metres, while Serbia’s Armin Sinančević settled for third after recording a mark of 19.93 metres.

The victory underlines Enekwechi’s strong early-season form as he continues his preparations for major international competitions later in the year.

 His opening triumph in Łódź reinforces his status as one of Africa’s leading field athletes and sets a positive tone for the remainder of the 2026 indoor campaign.
