West Bromwich Albion manager Ryan Mason has expressed his delight after Nigerian forward Josh Maja scored the decisive goal in the Baggies’ 1-0 victory over Norwich City on Wednesday evening, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Maja, who has endured a difficult spell with injuries since joining the club, netted his first league goal of the campaign to hand West Brom all three points at The Hawthorns.

Speaking after the game, Mason praised the striker’s perseverance and assured that the goal would serve as a massive confidence booster for him going forward.

“I’m super happy for Josh Maja to score the goal. He’s worked very hard and we’ve been patient with him,” Mason told the club’s official website.

“We believed that was the right thing to do because of the time he had out, but at the same time, we know he can affect games of football.

"I think that will do him the world of good and give him lots of confidence.”

The win against Norwich City strengthens West Brom’s push in the Championship, and Mason believes Maja can play a pivotal role in the team’s promotion chase if he maintains form and fitness.
