Enugu State Govt Summons Rangers Secretary Over Coach Appointment

By Our Reporter

Rangers Administrative Secretary, Ferdinand Ugwuarua, has been summoned to arrive at Enugu Government House on Wednesday at 10am.

Disclosing the latest development on Tuesday evening, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Chris Mbah, said part of the reason for the invitation is not unconnected with the decision of Ugwuarua to arrange the appointment of Fidelis Ilechukwu as Rangers coach without informing the state Governor, Peter Mbah, amongst other issues.

"The Governor is not aware of the recruitment process and therefore needs to explain the rationale behind the development". After Wednesday's meetin, we will know the way forward", said Mbah.

In another development, the Rangers Secretary is under intense scrutiny after failing to submit reports on the team's performance last season to the Permanent Secretary as well as how the N16Million largesse given to the club by Governor Mbah to prosecute the Federation Cup final was was carried out.

Rangers International were finalists in the 2023 Federation Cup after losing CAF Confederation Cup ticket to Bendel Insurance in the final. The club recently announced employment of former MFM FC Lagos coach, Fidelis Ikechukwu as Head Coach.
