Legendary former Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has stirred buzz across social media after newly released photographs captured him enjoying a quiet round of golf at the Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort in Akwa Ibom State. The images, taken by photographer Abraham Brown, quickly went viral, prompting an outpouring of admiration for the serene lifestyle of the former Nigeria captain, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Unlike many of his former national teammates who remain actively involved in football through punditry, administration or charity roles, Enyeama has charted a different course since retirement, focusing largely on business and family. The ex-goalkeeper, who briefly returned to France in April for a ceremonial match with Lille, has since been promoting his hospitality business, Vinpy Hotels, located in Uyo. His social media pages often feature lighthearted videos of him interacting with staff and enjoying traditional meals prepared in the hotel kitchen.

Enyeama remains one of Nigeria’s most decorated footballers. He achieved iconic status during his time at Lille, especially in 2013 when he kept 11 consecutive clean sheets and surpassed 1,000 minutes without conceding a run that came close to breaking Ligue 1’s all-time record. He played a key role in helping the club reach the UEFA Champions League playoffs.

The goalkeeper joined Lille in 2011, spent time on loan at Maccabi Tel Aviv, and later established himself as first-choice before parting ways with the club following a dispute with officials in 2017. After a brief training stint with Dijon in 2019, he officially retired from football in 2020.

For Nigeria, Enyeama is remembered as one of the greatest goalkeepers in the nation’s history. He won back-to-back CAF Champions League titles with Enyimba, captained the Super Eagles to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations title, and amassed 101 international caps before Ahmed Musa surpassed that record in 2021.
