Enyimba's NPFL Title Push Gains Momentum, Says Joseph

 Enyimba International midfielder Abiodun Joseph has expressed strong confidence in his team’s prospects for the 2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title, declaring that the Aba-based side is “the team to beat” this season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Speaking after a thrilling 3–2 victory over Bendel Insurance on matchday 5, Joseph credited the team’s cohesion and ambition as key factors behind their early success.

 “From our pre-season games to the League proper, there’s been great understanding among us,” said the former Rivers United and Sunshine Stars player in an interview with BSN Sports, “Our focus is to return to the continent and bring back the glorious years of Enyimba. We know what our chairman, Kanu Nwankwo, expects, and we are ready to deliver.”

Joseph, who netted his second goal of the campaign in the win against Insurance, vowed to continue giving his all for the club as they chase their 10th league title.

Otti Rewards Team with ₦30 Million

Sunday’s high-octane fixture at the Enyimba International Stadium drew the attention of Abia State Governor Alex Otti, who watched from the stands alongside his wife. Impressed by the team’s attacking display, Governor Otti rewarded Enyimba with ₦30 million, offering ₦10 million per goal scored.

In a gesture of sportsmanship, the Governor also awarded ₦10 million to Bendel Insurance, despite their loss.

Enyimba Top of the Table

Following the win, Enyimba now sit atop the NPFL table with 11 points from five matches. Their unbeaten run includes three wins and two draws, underscoring their strong start under the new season.

The reigning champions will next travel to Lagos to face Ikorodu City on matchday 6, as they look to extend their momentum and solidify their position at the top.
