Chelle Arrives Nigeria After Guiding MC Oran To Victory

Super Eagles Coach, Eric Chelle will arrive in Abuja, Nigeria today (Sunday) after guiding MC Oran to a 1-0 victory over ESM Setif in the Algerian Cup played on Saturday.

The Franco-Malian coach jets off after expressing heartfelt gratitude to the fans and management of MC Oran after his last match with the club.

The former Mali Coach will be unveiled after his arrival before joining the Super Eagles B team who are in close camping in Ogun State preparing for the 2024 Championship of African Nations Cup.

His employer, the Nigeria Football Federation, despite the Super Eagles being in precarious situation in Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, has tasked him to qualify the three times African champions for the Mundial before extension of his short term contract.

The newly acquired coach will need 100 percent of players commitment to qualify f as the Super Eagles are fifth on the log with three points from four games while Rwanda, South Africa and Benin Republic are first, second and third respectively with seven points apiece Lesotho are fourth with five points while Zimbabwe are languishing in the bottom of the table with just two points.
