Eronini Emerges 2022 Mightyman Golf Tournament Champion

 Petroleum Engineer, Ronnis Eronini has won the 2022 Mightyman Golf tourney held at Henry Seriake Dickson Golf and Country Club, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

 The Handicap 12 Ronnis Eronini played 64 nett and a gross of 76 to emerge winner in Men's category while Peter O. emerged runner up with nett of 68 and gross of 85. 

In the men's auxillary results, Mike J. won Best Gross with 64 scores. The Nearest to the pin went to Ronnis Eronini while Naworio A. claimed the longest drive award.

In the ladies category, Uyime Umoh played 67 nett with 103 gross to outplay other amateur ladies while Iyare M. who netted 68 and grossed 104 emerged the runner-up best. 

Others include Rita I. with the Best Gross and Nearest to the Pin award and Genevieve E. with longest drive trophy. 

In his winner's speech, Ronnis Eronini who commended other golfers, said his victory was borne out of days of training as well as determination. 

Wife of the Governor of Bayelsa State, Dr. Mrs. Gloria Diri who performed the Ceremonial tee off urged golf stakeholders across the country to take advantage of the Henry Seriake Dickson Golf and Country Club in Yenagoa to stage major golf tournaments at the facility. Dr. Gloria said the facilities and equipment at the Golf Course was top notch that could be compared to other top courses in the country.

"Golf is one game that Nigeria and Golf stakeholders need to invest more in order to maximally benefit as the popularity of the game cannot be quantified. Nigeria needs to produce the likes of Tiger Woods, as we have the talents. All they need from us is support", She concluded. 

Past President, Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria, LGAN, Ngozi Osuhor who organised the showpiece in honour of the new Governor of District 9141, Mr Mightyman Aye-Dikuro, which jurisdiction covers Bayelsa, Edo, Rivers and Delta states, disclosed that the aim of the tournament which is geared towards charity is intended to affect lives positively.

She however called for more ladies participation in the game of Golf as the country set to take part in the All Challenge Trophy scheduled for Tanzania in September this year.

 The tournament was attended by players both from within the state and outside.
