Sampson Adedeji
Ethiopia has officially joined the race to host the 2028 Africa Cup of Nations, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) recently opened the bidding process for countries interested in staging the tournament following a change in the timing of the competition, prompting renewed interest from several federations across the continent.
Ethiopia’s entry into the race adds to growing competition for the hosting rights, as the East African nation seeks to bring Africa’s biggest football event back to the Horn of Africa.
Meanwhile, Southern Africa is also strongly represented in the bidding process, with South Africa submitting a joint bid alongside Botswana and Lesotho in a co-hosting arrangement.
CAF is expected to review all submissions before announcing a shortlist, with the final host nation(s) to be confirmed after an extensive inspection and evaluation process.
